Seema Sachdev is Director of Digital Risk, Controls and Ops Rigour at Barclays Bank.
In her role, Seema is responsible for Digital Risk and Controls and Automation, Business Management, Cost, Headcount and Third Party Supplier Management, Operational Rigour, Employee Engagement and Communications. Prior to this role, Seema has held various roles at Barclays, most recently as the Chief of Staff to the MD of Digital, Open Banking and Commercial Performance.
Seema has also been the co-chair of the UK Barclays Asian Professionals Forum (APF) since its inception in July 2017. The forum focuses on attraction, inclusion and development, raising the bar on cultural awareness and diversity and inclusion from a colleague perspective and now has close to 700 active members.
Seema has hosted and participated in several APF events, talks and panels around diversity and inclusion and also spearheaded the first Embrace Gala dinner in November 2018. Using Diwali as a back drop, the dinner was a celebration of multiculturalism across the bank. A first of its kind in bringing together over 300 senior execs, clients and colleagues across the business, to raise money for the APF’s chosen charity – the British Asian Trust Women’s Economic empowerment programme. The evening was a phenomenal success and really honed in on some very important messages around Barclays commitment to the race charter.
Seema’s passion for diversity also expands to technology and Seema is founder of the Barclays Group Wide ‘Digital Unleashed’ programme. This internal Tech Conference happens twice yearly encouraging all colleagues, regardless of role, to be curious and learn more about upcoming tech and disruption. The series encompasses over 20 internal and external speakers through a multitude of sessions around all things Digital and Fintech including the latest in Innovation, Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, UX design and Emotional Intelligence. External speakers include senior execs from renowned brands such as Google, Microsoft, Twitter,Salesforce, Amazon, 11FS, ASOS, Mr & Mrs Smith and many more. Registration for the last series in Sep 2019 was over 7,000 colleagues.
Prior to Barclays, Seema has held consultancy roles at Microgen, Cap Gemini and EDS (who were acquired by Hewlett Packard).
Seema lives in London with her husband and two children.
